Robson is always buzzing
Directions
Keep walking through the Tulips passing through one of the West End’s best chill out areas where you can hang and meditate at a water feature set amongst flowers and shrubs. Once finished, carry on along Bute until you reach the other main road on this walk – Robson Street. This has a different vibe to Davie, more commercial and less gay. But still very nice. Turn left for one block before turning left again and back into the predominantly residential area via Jervis Street. As you turn the corner by the bright orange sculpture on the sidewalk you will see the first of our next featured tree on the right. As you continue up the road you will see more appearing on both sides. These trees are rather special with their fragile, delicate habit. Our next featured tree is the Silver Birch.

Something so wispy about these ones
Silver Birch
Proper Name: Betula pendula
Common Name: Silver Birch
Description: Not a native tree this one as it originates from Europe, but it is naturalised in Canada meaning it escaped into the wild and now sustains itself. Unfortunately in some areas it’s considered invasive but it does make a very lovely street tree because of its attractive white bark and gracefully drooping foliage.
Defining Feature:
The bark is white which makes it stand out from other trees. Often it has black diamond-shaped marks or patches, particularly at the base (see image below).
